Six men jailed following operation targeting drugs supply
Six men, who ran a highly organised operation, have been jailed as the result of a proactive drugs investigation
Officers recovered drugs with a street value of more than £10m after the group were seen transporting them between London and Birmingham in October 2020
Sentencing took place on Tuesday, 11 May at Southwark Crown Court.
Commander Richard Smith, said: “This was a successful and intricate investigation and in total, these six defendants were responsible for transporting millions of pounds worth of drugs into and out of London.
“The drugs seized on the day of arrest were valued at between £4.1m and £4.9m wholesale, and at least £10.9m street value.
“Thanks to the excellent work of our officers and police staff, a number of serious offenders have been removed from the streets.
“There is an inextricable link between drugs and serious violence, and the Met continues to bear down on those intent on causing harm to our communities through crime. The team should be commended for their diligence in removing these individuals from the streets.”
The group’s downfall began on 23 October 2020, when Scott Bradley - who was under police surveillance - was seen to meet with Barrie Wilkinson in a secluded road in Old Windsor. A package was handed over to Bradley and he then drove north in a VW van on the M40 towards Birmingham. At Warwick services, Met officers stopped Bradley and carried out a search of the van which revealed a sophisticated concealment containing seven kilos of cocaine.
Intelligence gleaned from Bradley’s satnav suggested he had been heading to the Solihull area of Birmingham.
On 29 October 2020, Wilkinson was seen to go to a shopping centre in Staines where he bought a number of sports holdalls. He was later seen placing holdalls, that appeared to contain items, into a Ford Transit van in the Walton upon Thames area.
The Ford Transit was then seen to drive to the Northolt area where four holdalls were removed by co-defendants David Green and Darrell Logan. They took the bags into an address, which was raided by uniformed officers who arrested both men. It was at this address that the biggest seizure was made, with the recovery of 104 kilos of cocaine. Wilkinson was subsequently arrested in a car park at the rear of his address in Egham.
The last two defendants were arrested over the following months when officers linked the VW caddy van that was being driven by Bradley at the time of his arrest on 23 October 2020 to Stephen Glynn and Carl Thompson.
Information uncovered during the investigation proved that Glynn and Thompson, like Bradley, had been acting as drugs couriers whilst they were using this van.
On Tuesday, 30 March, all six men pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Supply Class A drugs.
Carl Thompson, 32 (10.02.89) of Chadwick Gardens, Uxbridge; Stephen Glynn, 31 (14.06.89), of Tilehouse Way, Denham, Uxbridge; and, Scott Bradley, 40 (04.03.81), of Churchfield Road, Chalfont St. Peter, were jailed for five-and-a-half years, four years and ten months, and four years and two months respectively.
On Tuesday, 11 May, the three other members of the group were given custodial sentences as follows:
David Green, 30 (05.08.90), of High St, Chalfont St Peter, was sentenced to 13-and-a-half years.
Barrie Wilkinson, 51 (27.11.69), of North Street, Egham, was sentenced to ten years and four months.
Darrell Logan, 26 (21.05.94), of Sentinel Close, Northolt, was sentenced to nine years.
